Ras Al Khaimah is ruled by HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. Ras Al Khaimah is the fourth largest emirate, covering an area of 1684 square kilometers adjacent to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, with an estimated population of 300,000. Ras Al Khaimah is located near the northernmost point of the United Arab Emirates and shares its boundaries with the emirates of Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Sharjah, as well as an international border with the Sultanate of Oman.
Although agriculture and tourism have long been a major part of its economy, Ras Al Khaimah has been witnessing an increased contribution from other sectors, including manufacturing of cement and pharmaceuticals.
